This is a really simple dish to make and it tastes really good.

Sautéing the onion, green pepper with olive oil to start.

Tvp with water. You could also use boca crumbles if you like. The first time I made this, that’s what I did. I just didn’t mix it with the boiling water. I actually sautéed it for 10 min with the green pepper, onion, oil and then added the spices. Then added the tomato sauce and water. It turned out just as good!

Tvp Vegan Sloppy Joes

Yield ~ 8

Ingredients:

1 large onion, chopped
1 large green pepper, diced
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 1/2 cups dry textured vegetable protein
1 1/2 cups boiling water
3 cups tomato sauce
2 tablespoon chili powder
1/4-1/2 tsp ground chipotle pepper
1/4 tsp pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon mustard
1 tablespoon sugar (I use raw cane sugar)

Directions:

Sauté the onion and green pepper in oil. Meanwhile add the boiling water to the tvp in a separate bowl. Allow to sit for 5-7 min to absorb the water.
Then add the rest of the ingredients to the pan. Bring to a boil and simmer for 20-25 min. Feel free to add more water if desired up to 1/2 cup. Serve on bun or bread of choice.

It’s much harder to eat this way as you can see. I had to cut it because everything just mushed out the sides when I try to eat it like a sandwich.

This recipe was taken from here. I just changed a few things. I hope you like it. I sure did. I just wish I had someone to eat it with. :( My children are picky. My oldest daughter is the worst. My boyfriend is not
home. More for me I guess :)
